During the first 3 years of a child’s life their brain grows and develops faster than at any other time in their life and foundations are set during these early years that will greatly influence the person they will become. The experiences a child has in infancy, the environment they grow in and the relationships they form with their parents/ caregivers shape their brain. It effects how they form and maintain relationships, and how they manage their future mental health.

Kangaroo Family Nurturing has been created to draw focus to this crucial phase in the early years and to support parents/ caregivers to give their Children the best possible start emotionally, by empowering them to be the very best version of themselves that they can be, in order to provide nurturing and loving care for their little ones.

  • Has your Child experienced a traumatic life event that impacts on their daily life?

  • Has the Covid-19 Pandemic had an adverse impact on your Child's Mental Health?

If you answered yes to any of the above, then Kangaroo Family Nurturing can help.

Around 1 in 6 Children aged 5-16 years have a diagnosable Mental Health Problem.

The Covid-19 Pandemic has vastly increased the number of Children and Young People suffering from anxiety, self harming, struggling with social situations and having low self esteem.

Getting support as Early as possible is crucial.

Emotions are very complex and it can be difficult to understand how we are feeling, and the emotions we are experiencing. Adults are able to verbalise their thoughts, feelings and experiences, Children however do not have the understanding, vocabulary and cognitive ability to express how they are feeling and this is often displayed through challenging or concerning behaviours.

Play is a Child's work and is how they learn to make sense of the world, and so here at Kangaroo Family Nurturing  we use Play and Creative Arts to join your Child in their world,  to support them to work through mixed up feelings and difficult life events at their own pace and level of understanding, which can lead to positive outcomes such as feeling happier, reduction in anxiety, increased self-esteem, better relationships with family and others, and positive behavioural changes .

We also offer support to parents in how to gain a greater understanding of what your child is experiencing and equip you with practical strategies that you can use to support your Child through this difficult time.
